The certification process
Now that we know a bit more the reasons behind taking action, let's take a look at the steps to get to become a zero waste business. Any feedback or ideas are welcome
Right, you have chosen to become a certified Zero Waste Business, great! Would you prefer

First step on the road to certification is to register your project, get to know the person who will be guiding you and get an official quote of the costs included. Does this sound ok?

What would you like to change in this step? Or what would be important?
After the admin is out of the way, it is time to get to work. We have 10 criteria which really lay the foundation for future success that need to be fulfilled first. We currently call it the "On the road" phase. Before we allow anyone to get further we want to check that this is done well. Do you want to be recognized for passing the check with a preliminary logo or similar?
Clear selection
After laying the foundation, we can start implementing the zero waste plan which was created in the previous phase. In order to make sure that the required minimum performance is reached, there will be some monitoring. How easy is it for you to produce data related to your waste generation or avoidance? For example, total waste amounts per category, amounts of products in packages, circulation of reusables.

When you think you are reaching high enough performance to get certified, it is time for an audit. It means that someone who has not been involved in the process comes to check that you comply with all the criteria, implement your plan and reach high enough performance. How would you like this organized?
Clear selection
The audit will be repeated every 3 years to make sure the performance at the minimum stays the same, even better if it improves. In the years between the audits, there should be regular updates to the plan and reporting of the progress. Do you think you need help doing this?

Currently we have a proposal that the certified stage would be divided into 3-4 different levels depending on the level of performance. Even the lowest level is already very good, but maybe there is a need to separate very good from the great. How do you see it

Would you find the levels motivating to keep improving? Any other comments on them?

Financial matters
Mission Zero Academy is a non-profit organization but we do have bills to pay that we need to make money for. Therefore, we need to charge some fees for the certification. In this section, we would like to ask a few things on how you see the prices and payments
When do you see it is the right moment(s) in the process to make payments?
One aspect of the price structure is the the country where the business is located. In addition, we need the prices to be different for different sized businesses. What indicator do you see might work to base the prices on?
Can you make payments to an organizaton which is based in Belgium

How much would you think it's worth to be a certified zero waste city?
