There are several sections to this form. The first section is the 2019 All-State Orchestra STUDENT EXPECTATIONS and CODE OF CONDUCT.

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS AND CODE OF CONDUCT
All rules and guidelines below are in accordance with the All-State Student Code of Conduct prescribed by the Missouri Music Educators Association and MSHSAA (Missouri State High School Activities Association).

Chaperones will contact your parents and your school orchestra director if there is a problem
Behave in a respectful manner to all chaperones and follow their instructions

NOTE: MoASTA, MMEA, and Tan-Tar-A Resort are NOT responsible for damaged or lost instruments and equipment

1. All-State members must attend all scheduled rehearsals. All rehearsals will BEGIN ON TIME. Arrive BEFORE starting time, with music stand, instrument pencil and music. You must be ready to check tuning at starting time. If you are a member of a group from your own school which is performing this week at Tan-Tar-A, you will be excused from All-State on hour before your other performance, and will be expected back 30 minutes after the concert. Please notify Mr.Keeney [The MoASTA President] if this applies to you. *

2. All-State is covered by rules governing the Missouri State High School Activities Association. School rules apply to your conduct while at All-State. APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR IS EXPECTED AT ALL TIMES. Students must remain reasonably quiet at all times in the hotel. Any audio device (TV, radio, CD/MP3 players, etc.) must be played at low levels. *

3. NO CONSUMPTION OR POSSESSION OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES, DRUGS OR CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES WILL BE TOLERATED. State law has a bearing on this. Any student found in violation will be sent home immediately. Do not put yourself in jeopardy. Those using prescribed drugs from their physician must inform the All-State chaperone in charge. *

4. Stay on Tan-Tar-A premises. You are NOT ALLOWED to leave Tan-Tar-A for any reason or at any time before the concert on Saturday. Students are not allowed to leave to participate in school activities at their own or other schools while at Tan-Tar-A. If there is a reason to leave because of an emergency situation, permission must be obtained from a chaperone. *

5. ADHERE TO CURFEW, Room Check, and Lights Out times. All students must be in their rooms and not leave their rooms after Room Check. Chaperones will check rooms to make sure you are in your assigned room, and that the lights are out on schedule. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PERFORM WELL IF YOU ARE EXHAUSTED! Being late for curfew may be cause for dismissal from the orchestra. *

6. You are free to visit with friends in other rooms, but YOU MAY NOT CHANGE YOUR ROOM ASSIGNMENT. BOYS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN GIRLS’ ROOMS and GIRLS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN BOYS’ ROOMS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES WHATSOEVER. If it is necessary to make an exception, a chaperone must be present. If you are in Windrose, STAY OFF THE BALCONIES. BEING ON BALCONIES AFTER CURFEW IS CONSIDERED BEING OUT OF YOUR ROOM. *

7. Hotel rooms must be locked at all times. Each individual is responsible for his or her own personal property and possessions. If you are in Windrose, make sure the exterior balcony door is locked. *

8. Students are not to charge anything (meals, phone calls, room service, movies, etc.) to any All-State room. Entertainment and snacks are available in several areas throughout Tan-Tar-A at your own expense. *

9. Chaperones will check the condition of your room at check out time on Saturday morning and they will collect your room keys. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for keeping your room in the same condition as when you checked in. Chaperones will check your rooms Friday night during Room Check and again Saturday morning at check-out time. *

10. T-shirts will be given to you at registration on Wednesday. You may purchase a recording of the All-State Concert. Orders are taken at Shh Productions in the exhibits downstairs in the main building. A picture of the All-State Orchestra is already paid for, and will be mailed to your residence. *

11. Lastly, please read this statement. The rules outlined above are non-negotiable. Students who have used poor judgment in the past have been sent home. Do not put yourself in jeopardy.“It is understood by students, their parents/guardians, directors and principals that any infraction of the Rule of Conduct constitutes grounds for the student’s dismissal from theAll-State Orchestra activities by the All State Orchestra Coordinator of MoASTA. Any student dismissed from an All-State group will not be permitted to return home on their [own] accord. Their parent or guardian must come to pick them up immediately. It is further understood that any All-State student dismissed by the All-State Orchestra coordinator will not be eligible for any All-State honor group the following year.” *
