Friends of DuPont Forest is a non-profit organization with only one full-time staff member. While our Executive Director handles the day-to-day operations of the organization, board and committee members actively engage through committees to further organizational progress in events, policy, fundraising, communications, and trails.

Please read the brief committee descriptions below before filling out this application. Note that many of our committees meet monthly and that work is done outside of the committee meetings.

We are seeking committee members who are interested in participating in projects and tasks outside of the standard committee meeting times.

Friends of DuPont Forest cares for the trails, protects the natural resources and inspires love for DuPont State Recreational Forest.

  • Communications Committee: The committee is responsible for the communications of the Friends of DuPont Forest. This includes social media, press releases, enewsletters, and bi-annual newsletters. The committee will also work with the development committee on marketing strategies to meet development goals.The committee will meet the first Monday of the month at the beginning of the quarter. Meeting dates will be in January, March, June and September. The committee is moving towards a monthly meeting.

  • Development Committee: The Development Committee is responsible for creating, overseeing, and helping to execute the fundraising, membership, and marketing plans of the organization. In addition, the Development Committee focuses on building relationships and fostering a positive image of the organization within the community. The committee will meet on the third Wednesdays at 5:30PM monthly. Development Committee members are also encouraged to attend fundraising related events, including but not limited to, the Buck Forest Club (typically held in May) and Forest Festival (typically held in September).

  • Events Committee: The Events Committee is primarily responsible for educational events of the Friends of DuPont Forest (FoDF). This includes public events and FODF members-only events. The committee meets monthly.

  • Finance Committee: The Finance/Audit Committee shall monitor the financial health of the Corporation and fulfill duties assigned to it by the President and/or Board of Directors. The Committee will assist the Executive Committee in the preparation of the annual budget. Meets via email or ad-hoc as needed.

  • Forest Festival Committee: The Forest Festival Committee is responsible for organizing the annual Forest Festival on National Public Lands Day. Meets the second Tuesday of each month from January through August and then weekly from August through September.

  • Public Policy Committee: The committee is responsible for setting policy priorities for the Friends of Dupont. Working in tandem with the Forest Supervisor on shared goals and vision. Advocating policy makers on local, regional and state levels for the benefit of the Forest. Working with Forest Management to advocate on the community’s behalf and finding ways to relay and incorporate the membership and communities’ concerns to the Forest Management. The committee will meet monthly on the first Tuesday of the month at 4:00 PM, or as agreed by committee members.
