On November 12-13, the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center will present CTRL+ALT: A Culture Lab on Imagined Futures. CTRL+ALT will feature art installations, performances and maker spaces that illustrate how emerging forms of media--once considered fringe--can envision more sustainable, equitable futures for marginalized communities. This is a huge event and we hope you will join us as a volunteer to make it happen.
We'd love for volunteers in New York City to help us set up the event on Thursday and Friday Nov 10-11, to help us and artists during the public event on Saturday and Sunday Nov 12-13, and to deinstall on Monday Nov 14.
As with all APAC Culture Labs, CTRL+ALT will be an interactive, participatory museum experience: part festival, part exhibition, part experiment. It will also be collaboratively curated, built on partnerships with scholars and academics, and local and national artists and arts organizations, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art Media Lab, CAAAV, Chinatown Art Brigade, the NYU A/P/A Institute, and Secret Identities Universe.
