Digital Learning Task Force & Symposiums

Eanes ISD's strategic plan outlines the following two goals:
Goal 2 :“Eanes ISD will have learning opportunities that prepare students for the future and inspire them to realize their personal and educational potential.”
Goal 3: Eanes ISD will have “A technology-rich educational environment that enhances individual learning.”

In an effort to both inform and gather input, Eanes ISD is putting on a series of Digital Learning Symposiums hosted by a Task Force made up of staff, parents, students and community members.

The purposes of this process are:

- To reflect on how and why we are personalizing instruction and engaging students through digital learning.
- To discuss what we can achieve going forward with digital learning.
- To better educate parents and the community about the use of technology in our classrooms and the steps we’ve taken to transform learning and personalize it for each student.
- To gather input from students, staff, parents, and community on digital learning; and on what tools and professional development are needed to ensure the effectiveness of digital learning in classrooms and at home.
- To best prepare our students for college and career by providing them the most flexible and authentic digital tools that will help them succeed.

Here is the schedule of meetings and symposiums that you would be required to attend if chosen:

Opening Meeting
September 21 (4:30-6:30) - Digital Learning Task Force Orientation & Goal Setting

October 13 (5-7:00) - Digital Learning Symposium #1 - Future-Ready with Industry Experts
October 28 (5-7:00) - Digital Learning Symposium #2 - Teacher Panel
November 5 (12:30-2:30) - Digital Learning Symposium #3 - Campus Site Visits
November 19 (5-7:00) - Digital Learning Symposium #4 - Student Panel

Closing Meeting
November 30 (4:30-6:30) - Wrap-up meeting and action proposal put forth to the Superintendent and School Board

If you have interest in being a part of this process, please fill out the attached form no later than September 4, 2015. We will be including a wide variety of parents, staff and students the task force from various backgrounds and opinions. We will also open up all the symposiums to the public, so even if you aren't chosen to be on the task force, you can still participate. In addition, if you choose, you could be part of an online community dedicated to gathering research and information on digital learning.

Several school board members will be providing input as to who is chosen for this in the coming weeks. Thank you for your time and interest and we look forward to collaborating with you in the future!

    Volunteer Agreement for Members of District-Wide Committees

    I recognize the important responsibility I am undertaking in serving as a member of a district-wide committee for the Eanes Independent School District. I agree to serve in a trustworthy and diligent manner, and commit to carry out the duties and obligations in my role as a volunteer for the good of the District and the students, parents, staff, and community members served by the District. Specifically, I pledge: 1. To perform my volunteer duties to the best of my ability. 2. To become aware of and adhere to relevant District policies and procedures. I will seek assistance from other committee members and staff when questions arise about policies and procedures. 3. To meet time and duty commitments. I will attempt to attend all meetings of the committee, and will give advance notice (and reports, as appropriate) when I cannot be present. I will come to meetings prepared to discuss the issues and business of the meeting. I will share my opinion, and respect the opinions of others. I will observe appropriate parliamentary procedures and display courteous conduct. 4. To communicate appropriately. I will not represent the views of the District, Board of Trustees, or committee unless officially designated to do so. I will communicate professionally, honestly and courteously both within and outside the District when working on committee-related issues. 5. To respect the laws and rules of confidentiality. I will not communicate outside of the committee on any confidential matters. 6. To avoid undue influence. I will not use my position as a committee member to gain or attempt to gain an undue advantage for myself or another person. 7. To avoid conflicts of interest. I affirm that there is no conflict of interest of a financial nature or other tangible personal benefit that would improperly influence my work as a committee member. If a potential conflict does arise, I will disclose that conflict with the committee chair and District administration, and refrain from involvement on matters in which I have conflict. I will avoid even the appearance of a conflict of interest. If for any reason I find myself unable to carry out the above duties to the best of my ability, I agree to resign my position as a committee member.
