In the science fiction classic Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury imagines a world in which the government has banned all books and the country’s fire departments burn personal libraries. A small group of citizens dedicate their lives to memorizing books so that they can transmit them to the next generation. If you lived in such a world and had to choose just one book to memorize and pass on to your children (not counting the Bible, which would be the obvious choice), what book would you choose? What universal truths does the book communicate that makes it valuable for people throughout history?
