ART AFTER DARK Costume Competition Entry Form
We're so excited you're interested in entering our competition! Show off your creativity, walk the runway, and compete for cash prizes at OMA's inaugural ART AFTER DARK costume competition.

Category Descriptions: 

  • Avant-Garde Prize: This is a spectacular and impressive costume that is artful, avant-garde, and shows high levels of craftsmanship. (Does not have to fit a specific theme.) 
  • Transformative Currents Prize: This is an individual or group costume that is inspired by the Transformative Currents exhibition's themes surrounding cultures and environments of the Pacific Ocean. This is the only category allows group entries!
  • Sustainable Innovation Prize: This costume uses recycled, reclaimed or otherwise sustainable material. Let your imagination go wild and let the ideas of ecology, waterway preservation and recycling be your muse! 
  • Audience Favorite Prize: All runway finalists who didn't win first prize get called back to have the audience cheer for their favorite costume to select this winner!

The contest will be judged by an esteemed panel of experts, including Jan Arnold, Amber St.James, and Martin Jaquish, Masquerade coordinator for Comic-Con International and WonderCon!

When you check in for the event, you will be directed to your category tent for a digital photo and preliminary judging. We ask all entrants to arrive at the start of the event (6:00 pm), as entries will not be accepted after preliminary judging (at approximately 7:30 pm*). Judges will choose 3-5 finalists to walk the runway for each category. Finalist names will be announced from the stage between 7:30 - 8:00 pm. We will ask you to meet at the competition tents when your name is called to prepare for the runway walk and final judges' panel. After top prizes are awarded, all entrants are invited to participate in the final runway walk of the night as the audience votes for the Audience Favorite prizewinner with claps and cheers--- so make sure your friends and family are in the crowd too!
