Application for COLLAB Creative Residency
In the COLLAB atelier project, selected artists are offered three month long rent-free residencies at two locations: One in Leesburg at Rust Library, and one at Brambleton Library in Ashburn, and one at Sterling Library.
All three libraries offer Makerspaces for resident artists' use. Open to the public seven days a week; these branches are open until 9 pm six nights per week. The Makerspaces have work tables with access to 3-D printers and other technologies.
During the three-month residency, library staff will work with the artist to create and promote an event, class, exhibit or presentation reflecting the artist's project.
COLLAB offers four three-month residency periods each year. Artists are encouraged to plan interactions with collaborators and other users of the space during their three-month residency. Residencies will be awarded based on the quality of the artists' proposals, with special consideration given to artists willing to collaborate with partners on at least one project during the residency. This program is not limited to visual artists. Performers, writers, musicians, and makers are also encouraged to apply. We are particularly interested in cross-media collaborations. Artists are also encouraged to document and share their experiences during the residency.
Resident artists will be allowed to display and sell artwork from the studio spaces. LCPL and the LAC will promote artists' events through their website and other electronic media.
