General requirements for all positions:- Applicant must be enrolled at Western University; exceptions are made for the External Representative position in which students must be enrolled in a Canadian university or college- Applicant must be a graduate student in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, or mathematics) discipline; Exceptions are made for the Undergraduate Representative position in which applicants must be undergraduate students- Applicant must show demonstrated planning and organizational experience

Role descriptions (number of available positions are in brackets):
***Conference Organizers (3)***- Planning and primary execution of the IDSTEM 2020 Conference (March 2020)- Coordinate sub committees and volunteers for day-of tasks- Keep sub committees to deadlines- Booking of conference venue and catering- Arrange and book keynote speakers (3-4): One from each: Science, Tech, Engineering, Math- Arrange conference program- Prepare conference budget alongside IDSTEM executive- Prepare and moderate conference panel discussion- Be prepared to dedicate about 2-5 hours per week in the final planning stages (December 2019 - March 2020)
***Undergraduate Poster Competition Committee (3)***- Advertise poster competition to undergraduate students (in lectures, emails, posters on campus)- Coordinate poster abstract submission and presentation acceptances- Arrange the poster session at the IDSTEM 2020 conference; including renting poster boards- Select and coordinate poster judges- Determine a poster scoring scheme- Work with conference co-organizers and IDSTEM executive on poster awards
***Industry Expo Committee (3)***- Contact and coordinate companies in the STEM industry to be represented the IDSTEM 2020 conference at least 6 months prior to conference date- Coordinate with industry leaders day-of- Maintain positive relationships with industry contacts for future conferences- Secure sponsorships for IDSTEM 2020 funding from companies, if possible
***Graduate Student Expo Committee (3)***- Book graduate student research groups from STEM faculties across the university for the IDSTEM 2020 conference- Advertise graduate student expo application to STEM graduate departments- Coordinate student groups during planning stages and day-of- Liaise between faculty representatives (e.g.: grad coordinator, faculty members, PIs), and conference organizers
***Media Representative (Social media, website, advertisements) (1)***- Design and complete the IDSTEM website (hosted through squarespace)- Maintain the IDSTEM website and related social media platforms (Facebook, twitter), providing regular updating- Design an IDSTEM logo and related graphics- Advertise the IDSTEM 2020 conference on social media platforms (Facebook, twitter)- Develop strategies to advertise the IDSTEM 2020 conference both within Western, and other Canadian universities
***Undergraduate Representatives***- One from each faculty at Western- Reach out to faculty members/classes within their department to advertise the IDSTEM 2020 conference
***External Representatives***- One representative from universities outside of Western- Reach out to STEM facilities to advertise the IDSTEM 2020 conference- Advertise the IDSTEM conference travel award to local university- Liaise between external universities and the IDSTEM planning committee
