CinéTamaris,
Villa Albertine and
INA (The French National Audiovisual Institute) present Agnès Varda’s
The Gleaners and I Editing Educational Platform !
First female director to win an honorary Oscar and described by Martin Scorsese as « one of the Gods of Cinema”, Agnès Varda’s commitment to film education can be seen in this program which wants to give film students across the United States a chance to dive into one of the filmmaker’s most famous documentaries,
The Gleaners and I. The goal is for students to study Agnès Varda's editing techniques and use the 54 hours of rushes (with or without subtitles) as well as some of their personal footage to create their own short film thanks to an innovative platform powered by The French National Audiovisual Institute (INA) . Each new cut will be uploaded back onto the platform to share with other students.
“The pedagogical platform will open the treasure trove of Agnès Varda’s archives, making never-before-seen footage and hours of unused rushes available to nascent filmmakers across the globe " - Variety.
“I always felt that Agnès was the real Spirit of Cinema.” – Martin Scorsese.
Universities can fill out this form to receive information on how to access the platform.
