Happening #76 Leadership Application
Happening is a Christian renewal weekend lead by teenagers for youth. The weekend centers on the example and teachings of Jesus Christ, which are discussed in an atmosphere of joy and happiness, in a way that relates to the lives of today’s young people.

If you have found your way to this application, we are so excited that you are interested in applying to be on the leadership team for the next Happening.

By submitting this application, you are applying for any of the following leadership roles:

Rector: Youth-in-charge of the weekend. Meets and communicates regularly with Mom & Dad as well as leadership staff. Comes up with schedule for the weekend and all staff meetings leading up to the weekend. Vocal and forward-facing leader of the weekend. Sets the tone for staff meetings and for expectations of leadership staff as well as regular staff.

Observing Rector: The Observing Rector is included and involved in all planning aspects for the next two Happening weekends. For #76, the "OR" will “shadow” the Rector and support the Rector and leadership team in order to learn how to plan and lead the following Happening weekend. He or she or they will serve as Rector for Happening #77. Applicants for OR must have served on staff for at least one previous Happening.

Head Deacon: The Head Deacon will lead the efforts of the deacons in helping the weekend to go smoothly. Time management and organizational skills are pivotal for this role. Flexibility is a plus, but building and executing tight schedules will be a main component of the job. Communication of roles, responsibilities, and where to be when for Deacons is basically the job. Another forward-facing and vocal position.

Head Apostle: The Head Apostle will lead apostle efforts in preparing for the weekend as well as troubleshoot with the apostle group during the weekend. Emotional support and quiet leadership are the name of the game for this position. This is softer (but no less important!) form of leadership than Rector and Head Deacon considering the limits of vocal communication this position requires.

Head Cousin: The Head Cousin will lead the efforts of the cousins in planning and setting up all surprises throughout the weekend. Time management, communication, and organizational skills are pivotal for this role. While it is not as vocal as Rector or Head Deacon, the Head Cousin is still a forward-facing leadership position.

Happening #76 is scheduled for February 13-15, 2026. Leadership applications are due November 30, 2025.
