2019 GSA Mentor Application
The Geological Society of America (GSA) welcomes professionals, early career professionals, doctoral students, and retirees to complete an application to mentor a student at the Annual Meeting. Mentoring can range from one-on-one mentor pairs for the duration of the meeting to short-term mentoring opportunities. Please read through GSA’s mentoring options and choose one or more that you feel best fits your interests and time. You will be contacted confirming your placement. All mentors must agree to the terms of agreement and self-disclosure.

If you have questions you can email Jennifer Nocerino, jnocerino@geosociety.org or Tahlia Bear, tbear@geosociety.org
Annual Meeting/On To the Future (OTF) Mentor
Mentor a student (one-on-one) who has never attended an Annual Meeting before. You will help them navigate the meeting and introduce them to contacts at the meeting, and discuss career paths and offer advice. You can expect to meet with them for at least 30 minutes for each day you are both at the meeting. Mentors can expect a time commitment of at least three days during the meeting. All matches are made through the online Mentor Platform. You can access the site to create your profile (https://rock.geosociety.org/mentor/). You must be registered for the meeting to access it. Approximately 100 mentors needed.
Resume Mentor
A Resume Mentor volunteers for a block of time (one-hour minimum) to review student resumes, providing advice and guidance on building a winning resume. Students are on a first, come first serve, and drop-in basis. Sign up online for a time slot http://bit.ly/2GplKR5. Approximately 25 mentors are needed.
