Montclair Death Café Signup
"Nothing marks the community of the living like sharing food and drink." - Bernard Crettaz, founder of Death Cafes

~ WHEN? Thursday, August 9

~ WHAT TIME? Optional meditation class 6:30-7; Tea and cake until 7:30; Conversation 7:30-9:00

~ WHERE? Qwell Meditation Studio in Montclair, 493 Bloomfield Ave, Ground Floor. (It's new and gorgeous!)

AND - we've been invited to come early for a 30-minute breath meditation class just before our cafe begins! Qwell has generously extended a 50% discount with code Quell50, bringing the cost of grounding to $9. I'll be attending, and hope to sit with you before we begin an exploration of what's there for you around mortality.

~ COST? Suggested donation is $4 to cover basic expenses.

Connecting with other interesting mortals to reflect on what's important to you, what an awareness of your mortality creates for you, and what you can do now to be more powerfully prepared to engage with death. There will be some practical end-of-life resources available: What's a living will? What's an emotional will? What's legacy work? Also you'll come away with some resources for holding space for others' deaths with grace and love. In short, an evening in community around death positivity, death literacy, and nourishment for your self.

At a Death Cafe people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death and dying.

Our objective is 'to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives'.

A Death Cafe is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session.

Death Cafes are always offered:

- On a not for profit basis
- In an accessible, respectful and confidential space
- With no intention of leading people to any conclusion, product or course of action
- Alongside nourishing food – and cake!
