Do you have an idea for someone who should speak on the TEDxSantaCruz stage? Perhaps they are not the type to nominate themselves? Maybe they need a little convincing? That's where you come in!
TEDxSantaCruz will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the Crocker Theater on the Cabrillo College campus.
PLEASE NOTE: Nominations are only open to people who live and/or work in Santa Cruz County.
Our purpose:
At TEDxSantaCruz “Rising Together” we will create a joyful, inclusive, and thought-provoking one-day conference. As a community, we’ll foster learning, inspiration and wonder, honor perspectives, and spark conversations and connections that matter.
Our theme:
Our “Rising Together” theme suggests a scale of collaboration that currently doesn’t exist. As a society, we are facing huge challenges such as climate change, preserving natural resources, racism, poverty, lack of health care, homelessness, and educational disparities. How do we rise together? How do we build effective and lasting collaborations? Our prospective speakers will address big ideas and solutions to challenges at the local, regional, national and global levels.
What is TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called
TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxSantaCruz, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxSantaCruz event, TED Talks video, and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
What matters to us:
TEDxSantaCruz deeply values the rich diversity of our county in terms of race, ethnicity, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, physical ability, and more. As such, we’re hoping to build a beautifully diverse and welcoming program.
