ON TRANSPLANTED PERFORMERS AND REMOTE-CONTROLLED AUDIENCES

Masterclass - STEFAN KAEGI (Rimini Protokoll)

Stefan Kaegi co-produces works with Helgard Haug and Daniel Wetzel, under the label ‘Rimini Protokoll’. Rimini Protokoll's purpose is to pry apart the sense of reality and present all its facets from unusual perspectives.

During this masterclass, Stefan Kaegi will share his practice and research interests with the participants. How to stage living ready-mades and recontextualize experts onto stages? Welcome to the grey zone between reality and fiction. Allow documentary material and theatrical interventions to seduce you into complex topics like climate change or European politics. Stefan Kaegi will show and comment short videos on recent productions of the German theatre label Rimini Protokoll including 50 remote controlled spectators, 100 statistically chosen citizens of São Paulo as well as international weapon dealers and immersive spaces remembering the legacies of people after the end of their lives. In the masterclass, he will discuss implications of such work and invite to interact with preprogrammed systems.

Please bring your smartphone, charger, and headphones to the masterclass.

When: Saturday 25 May, 2019 | 10:00 - 17:00
Costs: €50,- incl. lunch
