Safer Sports: Conference on Concussions

Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino and the Department of Community Mental Health invite you to the county's first annual conference on concussions. The free event will bring together an expert panel of speakers, including nationally renowned neuropsychologist Dr. Gerry Gioia, to help educate parents, coaches, student athletes, athletic trainers, school officials and health care professionals on:

• What is a concussion and what happens to the brain during the injury
• How to recognize the signs and symptoms of sports concussions
• The importance of proper sideline, baseline, and post-injury assessment
• How to navigate specific treatment options
• When and how to get athletes back on the field and in the classroom in good health
