These levels of racism are embedded within the framework of our society through laws, research, medical interventions, environmental spaces, and our “work culture”.

SOMATIC WELLNESS & ANTI-RACIST PRACTICES (SWAP)

Why SWAP?

Rest is a privilege only afforded to a select few in our society. For everyone else, our value to society is based on how hard we “grind” and for many, their very survival depends on the grinding down of their bodies through work. SWAP™ is a unique methodology, developed by Almetta Pitts, MSW, LSWAIC that combines Somatic Wellness & Anti-Racist Practices™ to create tailored pathways to wellness for your organization.

SWAP™ incorporates an evidence-based introduction to embodied trauma-informed mindfulness, intersectional racial equity, and anti-Black racism philosophies.

A core tenet of SWAP™ is the prioritization of rest and the understanding that "rest is an act of resistance." (Thank you, to Tricia Hersey, Founder of The Nap Ministry).

Rest allows us to disengage from the systems of oppression that ask us to grind down our bodies for someone else’s profit. 

One way that Attemla Consulting, LLC creates brave spaces for rest in your organization is through the creation of an organizational wellness “toybox” (Thank you, Dr. Leticia Nieto for the explanation of a "toybox").

A wellness toybox is a bank of resources that your organization can use to implement and sustain SWAP™. As part of an organizational wellness journey, your staff will also be able to prioritize their personal wellness journey.
