Environmental analysts at the Roberts Environmental Center are working to deepen their understanding of California wildfires, and how they may be a precursor to migration. While we are processing and analyzing data  that can inform evidence-based policymaking, we understand that people are more than just data points. We want to hear from communities themselves about which policies need fixing, what data gaps need to be filled, and how we can work together to improve wildfire outcomes. Our team is working to document the stories of residents of unincorporated territories affected by the increasing frequency and severity of California wildfires. We hope to amplify the voices of folks within these often overlooked communities in order to drive more effective, equitable policy solutions to strengthen wildfire recovery and resiliency.
