NPS Community Consultation

Did you see East Gore School on the front page of the newspaper last month? We were there because East Gore is one of just four neighbourhoods selected from across New Zealand to pilot a new community play initiative which will be focused on East Gore School and the wider community. This initiative is community driven which is why in the last week of term, our senior students had the opportunity to chat to the team from Active Southland about play in their neighbourhood and how to make play an everyday, everywhere activity for the whole family, and now it’s your turn!

Play has many benefits including increasing our children’s cognitive, social and physical development, however in many communities there are concerns around safety (roads, dogs, strangers), accessibility (crossings, railways, easy walking distance), facilities (toilets, drinking fountains, bins, seats) and space (areas for play, nature areas, playgrounds) which can hinder children’s permission to play.

We ask that you keep these things in mind when you are filling out this survey and we are looking forward to your opinion and experiences with play in your community and how we can improve these.

Please complete this short survey by Wednesday 17 November 2021.
