BSides Philadelphia 2023 Call for Speakers is now Closed
Please join us once again for Bsides Philly! Our Infosec community in Philadelphia has been thriving for the past 40 years and we look forward to sharing it with you.  Our call for Speakers will run until September 30th. We will review all submissions and notify everyone by mid October.

This year, Bsides Philadelphia will be held at Netrality at 401 N. Broad street in Philadelphia on December 8th.

Security covers a wide range and so do our talks. We'd love to hear about your latest projects; some of the likely topics this year include subjects such as: Red, Blue, or Purple team process and technologies, Security Automation, AI or ML Security, SEIM Development, DFIR, IOT, Vehicle hacking,  microcontroller tasks, physical security, door hacking, drone defense, and various forms of social engineering.

You can submit up to three presentations. We have a variety of formats.  Please indicate if you'd like to submit your talk for a 15 minute ignite talk, a 30 minute talk or a 50 minute main stage talk. All times include Q&A.

We're also accepting workshop submissions. If you would like to host a workshop on a specialty topic, please feel free to tell us about it. We're doing a few 1 hour, 2 hour, and All day workshop slots. If your workshop requires supplies to be purchased, please mention it in the description. BSides will not provide more than tables, chairs, space and possibly projectors, but if you mention there will be a $20 fee for supplies for each attendee who wants to participate we can pass that information along to attendees during registration.  You may also include a supply kit link if relevant.

In our talk selection process, we aim to support various specialized interests, all the while ensuring the talks remain engaging for individuals of many backgrounds. Picture yourself delivering your talk to a group of listeners with diverse skills and experience and make careful use of jargon.

Some talks get very technical, which is great! But we want to make sure that even those who don't use the same tools can still learn something. If your talk is super technical, maybe we can turn it into a hands-on workshop for the people who use those tools.

New Local Faces: We're excited to hear from folks who haven't spoken at events before. Your unique story about the challenges you've faced or successes you've achieved locally is important. If you're new to speaking, don't worry – we can help you prepare!

Hearing Different Voices: We want to include everyone, especially those who don't always get a chance to speak at events like this. It doesn't matter if your job is not directly about technology or if you're the only one with your background in your workplace – your experiences matter to us.

Original Ideas: While we might consider talks that have been given elsewhere, we really like it when the local community gets to hear something fresh and new.

Direct Communication: If you want to speak at our event, we want to hear directly from you, not from a PR firm or marketing team. This event is all about our community, so direct engagement is key.

No Sales Pitches: We appreciate companies that support us, but our talks are not the place for promoting products. If you want to show off your product, think about sponsoring our event and having a dedicated space for that.

Expenses: As we are a small community conference we do not have the budget to cover expenses for speakers, but all speakers will receive a free ticket to the conference.

By following these guidelines, we make sure our event is interesting, inclusive, and focused on real learning.
