Jamaican Large Scale Coil Building with Samuel Wallace hosted by Kaabo Clay Collective!
August 15-16th, 2026 (Arrival evening Friday August 14th | Departure Early Evening August 16th)
Come dance around your vessels with Sam Wallace in this exploration of commercial clays. Participants will gain insight into Jamaican traditional folk-art hand-building techniques employed by Sam for building his large-scale planters and vessels.
Sixteen Participants, (18yr+, solo applicants)
Residency - Funded by KAABO | $220 nonrefundable deposit towards housing and meals. All funds support and make the residency possible. Applicants must be members. Membership is free and available to any Black ceramicist who joins the collective. Local/Regional participants are recommended due to artwork pick up and additional firing.
Group Housing will be provided for the cohort along with dinner both nights as part of deposit. Other meals will need to be self funded. Local participants that opt out of housing will be asked for a $75 contribution, instead of the $220.
First applicants get priority. On June 15th, first sixteen participants will be contacted to initiate your non-refundable deposit. Do not submit deposit before confirmation by email. Deposits due by June 29th.
Remaining spaces will be filled based on queue number.
