Cross-Listing Request (Merging or Combining Canvas Courses)
Cross-listing allows you to move section enrollments from individual courses and combine them into one course. This feature is helpful for instructors who teach several sections of the same course and only want to manage course data in one location. Short link to this form: http://bit.ly/crosslistrequest

Which semester is this for? *
Primary course section number *
The primary section will be the one that you want to use to manage the Canvas course and all students. Students will see only the primary course on their dashboard.  Usually the non-honors section is the primary course. For Learning Communities, it is important to include many reminders to the student that they will only be accessing one Canvas course for both of their courses. If you need ideas for course design please schedule a consultation with the CTLA (https://ctla.cgc.edu/help).
Secondary course section number(s) *
You may include multiple courses in one course. If you are cross-listing courses that have different titles, then keep in mind that your Canvas course will only reflect the primary section course number and section. In a Learning Community and in courses that have different course numbers, you will need to ensure that you add the title of the other course to your Canvas course as well as your Concourse Syllabus in the heading section.  Please see this guide for how to adjust your Concourse syllabus appropriately (https://bit.ly/concoursecrosslist)
Due to the sensitive nature of cross-listing, we want to make sure you are well informed before making the decision to cross-list your courses. Please read the following statements and check that you understand.
A statement informing the student is needed on your syllabus for FERPA. *
Within Concourse Syllabus there is a statement that you can choose to include or add your own. Here is an example: I have combined multiple sections of this course on Canvas. You may be interacting online with students from another class.  If you have questions, please contact me.
Every year a small number of students will "Opt out" of Directory Information, which includes the course(s) they are enrolled in.  Instructors can allow students to view users in other sections or limit them to only view users in the same section *
When cross-listing sections in Canvas, students have the potential to interact online with students in other sections.  This is not an issue unless they have opted out of Directory Information. Keep in mind that if you have a student raise an issue with this once assignment submissions have been made, you will not be able to de-cross-list your sections.  You will now need to create differentiated assignments for anything that has the potential to violate FERPA and/or follow the Canvas guide below to limit sections from interacting with each other.(see corresponding Canvas guide: http://bit.ly/3qe5VCJ). Section names do not change when they are cross-listed; the section is just moved to another course.
Cross-listing should be done while courses are unpublished. *
Coursework is retained with the course, not with the section enrollments, so if a published course is cross-listed, all cross-listed enrollments will lose any associated assignment submissions and grades.
