11th Aaina: South Asian Women's Focus Exploration Through Art - Art Workshop
We are very excited to present Art Workshop through Gupshup in 11th Aaina, for the very first time. The workshop is free but registration is required. Please fill in the details below to confirm your participation.

1. MAKE YOUR OWN RANGOLI! by Satpreet Kahlon - 1:00PM

Rangoli is a traditional art form from India in which patterns are typically created on the floor with colored rice, dry flour, colored sand or flower petals. Join our workshop, where you will be guided by Satpreet Kahlon (http://www.satpreetkahlon.com/) through the process of making your very own Rangoli to take home by using different shapes and colors of paper to create patterns. This workshop is for adults only.

2. THE BALLAD OF THE APASARAS - A Look at Women in the Performing Arts of India by Priyadarshini Shome - 2:00PM

A talk on the history of women in performing arts, both the positives and negatives focusing on the healing power of performance and a voice of protest and propagation. This will be interspersed with a demonstration presenting the classical performance concepts juxtaposed with a contemporary look at the strength of a woman.

3. Artist and singer Chandana Dixit will exhibit and give a talk about her work entitled, “MOSAIC”. She will include landscapes, still life and figurative works as part of the show.
