Each year, students enrolled in Agricultural Education at Southeastern High School MUST have an approved Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE). These are a part of the Ag Education 3-Circle Model, explained in the FFA Chapter Syllabus. Projects will happen outside of classroom instruction, and are supervised by the agricultural educator plus at least one of the following: parents, student supporters (other family, family friends, local industry), and/or employers.

Project options include, but are not limited to: showing animals at the fair or raising and selling animals at home, raising and selling field crops and/or hay, job placement project working for an Ag-related business or farm, raising and growing fruits and/or vegetables, community service in an Ag-related setting, working in the FFA community garden, performing services such as engine and equipment repair, lawn and landscaping, building and selling metal and/or wood projects, building and selling other Ag-related projects, science fair or research projects related to agriculture, forestry/tree removal/firewood, beekeeping, other projects with permission from the teacher.

Regarding the project requirement for my agriculture class this year, I understand that (check all): *

A project is REQUIRED in order to receive credit for taking this Ag class! Not completing a project or project requirements will result in an incomplete for the class! Projects are NOT optional!

Students MUST select/choose a project, maintain and keep records online and have a home visit with the teacher in order to get credit for completing a project.

All project records will be kept on The Agricultural Experience Tracker (theaet.com, mobile version: m.theaet.com)

Projects must be established, determined and set up by the end of each school year and completed by winter break the following year, even if you are not in an Ag class the following school year. Projects can start as early as necessary, depending on timing, opportunities, etc.

Students will be graded on project records, financial records, journal entries and other records throughout the school year. Final determination for completing a project will be made by the teacher at the close of the project year

It is OUR responsibility to be aware of and follow all rules and requirements for any projects to be raised and exhibited in any county/state fairs, shows and other exhibits.

Any miscellaneous or one-time projects exhibited in the youth building at the Clark County Fair (such as photography, wood/metal, etc.) will NOT count as an SAE project, unless the exhibit is part of an entire SAE program.

In order to receive project credit for the FFA community garden, the student must put in at least 10 total hours of documented work in the garden.

Students are responsible for scheduling and conducting a project visit with the teacher, regardless of what the project is. Failure to have a project visit can and will result in receiving an incomplete for Ag class.

We understand that successful SAE programs can be recognized at the State and National levels if an accurate Proficiency Application is submitted thoroughly during FFA Evaluations each January.
