Youth Orchestras of Lubbock Audition/Enrollment Form
Please fill in the information below to audition for the Fall 2018-Spring 2019 Orchestra Season. Please remember to bring your $25 audition fee at the time of your audition. Cash only please, audition fees are non-refundable. Your audition will enable our conductors to ensure the students will be matched to the specific standards set for the group which they desire to perform with; for example, Philharmonic Strings players must be able to play vibrato.

Please note, Spring applicants are allowed only at the discretion of the conductors, in order to provide instrumentation needed. Please indicate if you are trying out for Strings or Woodwinds, Brass or Percussion and which orchestra group - beginning string players will be in Prelude Strings. For more advanced strings players, or early woodwind or brass musicians, you will try for either the Philharmonic (intermediate) Orchestra or Symphony (advanced) Orchestra.

Please remember there is a fee for being in the orchestra.
For those entering in January, the fee is $147.50 that must be paid prior to the first rehearsal January 7th.

For a full year, the Annual payment is as follows:
$295.00 for Prelude Strings Orchestra (Early Strings Students)
$345.00 for Philharmonic Orchestra (Intermediate Woodwind, Brass, Percussion, and String Students)
$370.00 for Symphony Orchestra (Advanced Woodwind, Brass, Percussion, and String Students)

Payment plans are available upon approval. Contact our office for options. Also, Financial Aid covering full tuition and half tuition is available for those who qualify. Please contact us at info@youthorchestrasoflubbock.org if you would like an application. Applications are due in August.

Otherwise, monthly auto-payment plans are available by arrangement when applied for and approved, but please note: this option costs substantially more overall, and is only offered as a last option. Monthly auto-pay option requires approval from the program director to enroll in, and these monthly auto-payment contract plans may not be cancelled for any reason -- even if a student drops the program.

Orchestra(s) you are trying for: *
Indicate the Orchestra for which you intend to audition/perform with. Placement in the orchestra for which you audition is not automatic, but is based on the current year's audition. Participants are admitted on the basis of their performance ability, as evidenced by their audition, and placed at the appropriate orchestra level. Therefore, all students are always considered for EVERY orchestra, regardless of this request. It is only that this information indicates to us what you are hoping to achieve with the current audition. NOTE: Students who were in YOL Symphony or YOL Philharmonic groups the previous year can elect not to re-audition, and if they do they will automatically be placed in the orchestra that they were in last year. Students in any YOL group must re-audition for the opportunity to move to a new ensemble. Prelude Strings students will always have to re-audition, and strings students who want to move from 2nd to 1st Violin will need to re-audition for any orchestra.

Statement of Commitment *
Being in orchestra means that the entire group is depending upon you to be present for rehearsals and performances. The best learning experience is achieved when all member musicians are giving their best efforts consistently to achieve growth and success. For this reason, only one absence is allowed per season, and prior notice is required. We do understand emergencies occur; however, the orchestra must be a priority and we need the student's commitment. Are you available Sunday afternoons from 2-4:30 p.m.?
Required
Request Application for Financial Aid *
The policy of YOL is to make membership possible for any students who are able to perform the music, regardless of ability to pay -- therefore we offer options for financial aid. Students will be required to fill out a packet and be evaluated in order for financial aid to be awarded. Note: students who receive aid will help with set up/breakdown for rehearsals and concerts. The student(s) parent(s) will also be expected to participate in some aspects of YOL community service events, such as helping prepare for the annual concession stand at solo and ensemble contest.
