Lancaster UPK Lottery 2019-2020
Dear Parent,

Based on anticipated state funding for the Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program, a joint program between Lancaster Central School District and Lancaster’s UPK provider, will be available for the 2019-2020 school year.

Students will be selected by lottery to participate in the 2019-2020 UPK program. Parents may attend the lottery. In the lottery process, student names will be drawn at random from the submitted applications. If your child will be four (4) years old on or before December 1, 2019, you are a legal resident of the Lancaster Central School District, and you would like your child to be included in the lottery drawing for enrollment in the program, please complete the form below by March 13, 2019. If you have twin/triplet children who are eligible, please include all of their names on one form and check the twin or triplet designation. Children who turn five (5) years old before December 1, 2019 are eligible to attend all day kindergarten and therefore not eligible for UPK.

Students participating in the UPK program will be enrolled in either the morning (9am-11:30am) or afternoon (12:15pm-2:45pm) session. Please note that these hours may be subject to change for the safety of the children in our buildings. This is a 5-day per week program and follows the school district’s calendar for holidays and closings. The UPK program is housed in the Central Avenue school building, 149 Central Avenue.

As noted on the form below, you must provide your preference for the morning or afternoon UPK session or that your child can attend either the morning or afternoon UPK session. Please only select the time period that your child can always conveniently attend. The student slots will be filled in sequential order as names are randomly selected from the submitted applications. Families who selected the “Either AM or PM” category will be placed in the session with the fewest students at the time the child’s name is drawn. Please review the Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) Lottery Procedure at https://www.lancasterschools.org/Prek_lottery.

The public lottery drawing will be conducted on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at 5pm in the William Street School multi-purpose room, 5201 William Street, Lancaster, New York 14086. Results will be available at the public lottery. In addition, those selected will be notified by US mail with enrollment and registration information approximately two weeks following the lottery. If your child’s name is not drawn and your child is placed on a wait list, you will be notified by US mail approximately two weeks following the lottery. The Lancaster Central School District is unable to provide results via telephone, fax, email, or in person.

The application is due on March 13, 2019. Applications received after the lottery application due date will be placed on the waitlist. All applications must be submitted electronically. Only one application may be submitted per family. Duplicates cannot be accepted and will be removed prior to the lottery.

If you have any questions regarding the UPK program or enrollment, please contact Karen Marchioli, Director of Elementary Education, at 686-3390 or kmarchioli@lancasterschools.org.
