The Chipstead Powerboat Course is free to members who undertake to do duties as powerboat helms. The minimum age limit is 18 years.

For club members looking to learn or improve powerboat helming skills solely for club duties, the CSC Powerboat / Safety course is recommended and has the advantage of being free.
The two RYA courses, when completed, have an internationally recognised certificate. They are mainly intended for members planning to take a Dinghy Instructor course, or who have qualified as Dinghy Instructors, but they are also open to all members who are interested.
