Children's Choir Registration
Dear Ss. Barbara & Louise de Marillac Students and Parents,

The first few days of school are over, and I am beginning to make plans for the Ss. Barbara & Louise de Marillac Children’s Choir. The Choir is open to all parish children in grades 3 through 8. Sixth, seventh, and eighth graders who have been in choir for at least one year are also eligible to serve as cantors at liturgy.

We sing (on average) twice a month, once at a school liturgy and once at a parish liturgy. Rehearsals are every Wednesday. The time varies: 3:00-4:00 P.M. for St. Louise School Masses and 3:30-4:30 for parish Sunday Masses and other parish-wide celebrations at both worship sites (Thanksgiving and Good Friday, for example). I will be looking for parent volunteers to supervise choir members from 2:45-3:30 on days that choir begins at 3:30. Let me know if you are available.

Choir is a huge commitment. Members are expected to be at all rehearsals unless they are sick, and at all events at which the choir sings. You are part of a “team;” if some members are absent, the team cannot do their best. Please be sure to check all of your obligations before signing up. If you are not able to attend most rehearsals and Masses, perhaps this is not the ministry for you. If you have a conflict with athletics please let me know in advance.

If you are a St. Louise School student, please complete the registration form below and submit it to Ms. Miller by Tuesday, August 27. St. Louise Faith Formation and St. Barbara Religious Education students should respond by Wednesday, September 18 and come to rehearsal on that afternoon. Remember that this is a commitment for the entire school year. Rehearsals for school students will begin on Wednesday, August 28, from 3:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. The first full choir rehearsal (both school and Faith Formation) will be Wednesday, September 18, from 3:30-4:30 PM, and the first Sunday Family Mass will be Sunday, September 22, at St. Louise. Choir members will be given a tentative schedule for the first half of the school year at their first rehearsal. Students should enter church through the southwest door (the door closest to the baptismal font). I hope to see many students next week at rehearsal!

Sincerely, Karyn Zick Miller
