Compete as a dance crew or a singer in our all-new talent competition for rangatahi in Auckland. Head down to the Festival Garden, Aotea Square for Heats (Saturday 6 March & Saturday 13 March 2021, 12.00 - 3.00pm) before the Finals at Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre on Saturday 20 March 2021, 4.00pm

Multi-award-winning, bilingual artist REI, 2020 Best Hip Hop Album, Waiata Māori Music Awards and PRESTIGE, one of the most dynamic dance crews in Aotearoa and first ever New Zealand representatives to win the World Hip Hop championships, will headline the finals performance on the Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre stage.

Up for grabs at the final event is… major street cred! Plus prizes which include either a studio session with leading choreographer Joshua Cesan (IDCO) for dance groups, or a session in a recording studio for vocalists.

Limited spaces. First registered – first in! More information is available on our website aaf.co.nz/event/tamakibeats. Pre-registration is essential to be part of this inaugural comp.

Entries open from 25th November 2020.

DANCE CREWS
● Up to six performers
● Must choreograph a routine to a song from a New Zealand artist
● Routines should be three minutes or less
● Two age groups, 11–14 years and 15–18 years, as at 4 March 2021
● Dance floor will be 6 metres x 3 metres
● Festival theme of aroha should be portrayed

SINGERS
● Must be 18 years of age or younger at 4 March 2021
● Can be an original song, or a cover of by a New Zealand artist
● Guitar or keyboard or backing track supplied on USB in USB in MP3 or WAV format
● Musical accompaniment- festival theme of aroha should be portrayed
