Volunteer Application Form
Volunteers are the heart of the Dartmouth Family Centre/Dartmouth North Community Food Centre. We currently have approximately 95 active volunteers including community members, students, professionals, and retirees. Volunteers help us with program facilitation, food preparation, serving meals, clean-up, admin, helping out on the farm, and more.

A sense of community belonging and inclusion are the most important outcomes of our volunteer program. More than half of our volunteers are also program participants and live in the Dartmouth North community.

We ask volunteers to make a time commitment of once per week for at least four months. Most of our volunteer opportunities are during weekday mornings and early afternoons, with the exception of special events.

If you are interested in participating in our volunteer program, please fill out the application below and we will get back to you when we have an upcoming volunteer info session. We also have paper copies of the application available at the Food Centre and at the Family Centre.

All volunteers are required to undergo screening before being allowed to start their volunteer placement. All volunteers must complete a successful Child Abuse Registry Check. This is a free check that can be accessed here: Child Abuse Registry check https://novascotia.ca/coms/families/abuse/documents/CAR-4001_Request_for_Search_Form_A.pdf We also have copies available at the Food Centre.

Only volunteers who are doing a volunteer position where there is contact with children will need to complete a Criminal Record Check. The Dartmouth Family Centre/Dartmouth North Community Food Centre will cover any cost of screening required.

All volunteers under the age of 19 must have a completed parent/guardian permission form.
