Rural Student Health Sciences Mentorship Program
The Rural Student Health Sciences Mentorship Program is a new program created by Area Health Education Center of the Plains (AHEC) and current medical students at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas. The goal of the program is to help you, as a high school student, understand what the path to medical school looks like with resources on how to attain this goal, and how you can play a part in helping improve knowledge about and access to healthcare in your local community by utilizing the wisdom of these medical students!
Each participant in the program will be assigned to a medical student mentor who will contact you via a preferred method of contact that you list in a separate questionnaire. Each month, you and your mentor will discuss different topics related to your current high school activities, the path to college and medical school, and conquering any fears and questions that you have on your way to becoming an amazing physician!
Please understand, we require that you actively respond to your mentor. Failure to do so will result in removal from the program.
