DESCRIPTION: This award honors an MSLA member who in a career of one to five years, has made a significant impact on student learning through a quality school library program. The individual may also be making a positive contribution to MSLA activities in the region or state.
CRITERIA / ELIGIBILITY: MSLA members who have completed from one to five years in a professional position as a school librarian are eligible; the nominee must have completed at least one year in the present school. The nominee must have a professional library degree or state certification as a school librarian. If selected to receive the award, he/she must have a letter of support from his/her principal emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
NOMINATION PROCESS: Complete the online nomination form (below). Anyone may complete the nomination form; members may self-nominate. A Review Committee will review and rate the nominations. They will make recommendations to the Awards Committee who will make the final recommendations to the MSLA eBoard for approval. There will be up to six (6) awards per year.
AWARD: Certificate. The Awards Committee will notify administrators and send press releases to state and local newspapers.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Write an article for the MSLA Forum (coordinated with the MSLA Forum editors) and submit a photo for use on the MSLA webpage. Develop a bulleted list of program highlights for use in the press release. Award winners will create a tabletop display for the IdeaLab at the annual conference.
