Community survey for 26th & Blaisdell project
Whittier Alliance has been approached by a developer seeking to develop on the NW corner of 26th & Blaisdell. We are seeking community feedback on the proposal, including suggestions and concerns. As a quick overview, the project (as first proposed) is:
- 6 story building replacing the law offices, property mgmt offices, and duplex on that corner
- 146 market-rate apartments (mostly studio and 1 bedroom) with 107 parking spaces
- Stone, brick, and metal building covering most of the lot, with smaller upper floors to reduce shadows, walk-up units on the ground floor, and balconies
- Amenities and landscaping to be further defined
What would you most like to see on the project? (Select up to three, including a write your own option.)
Portion of units set aside with reduced rents for lower-income households
Enhanced project design (examples: higher quality materials, public art, architectural features)
Environmental features (examples: storm water retention, solar power, green roof)
Community or public-use amenities (example: public community room, small business incubator, community garden)
Public realm enhancements (examples: lighting, landscaping, transportation enhancements)
Design 'connection' to nearby buildings (examples: smaller scale structure, greater emphasis on walk up units)
Support for housing affordability elsewhere in the neighborhood (example: contribution to non-profits providing housing)
Support for other community/social services (examples: space for service providers, contributions to local schools)
