Legacy of May 28 Lessons from Independence & Shaping modern Azerbaijan
Join us for an insightful online discussion with Dr. Anar Ahmadov as we commemorate the anniversary of Azerbaijan's independence on May 28th. Dr. Ahmadov, a renowned expert in political economy, sociology, and development studies, will share his perspectives on the founding principles of Azerbaijan and their continued relevance in shaping the country's contemporary identity and governance. He will also analyze the implications of recent developments in the Southern Caucasus region for Azerbaijani society, drawing parallels between the present circumstances and the historical events of 1918.
Dr. Anar Ahmadov is an Associate Professor at the University of Leiden in Netherlands. Having received his PhD from London School of Economics, Dr. Ahmadov is broadly trained in political economy, sociology, development studies, and public policy. Prior to joining Leiden, he has held research and teaching positions at Princeton University, Oxford University, and the London School of Economics (LSE). For over fifteen years, he has also worked as a consultant, analyst, and executive in international development. His current research interests lie in political-economic inequality, natural resource governance, migrant political behavior, and the diffusion of political and economic ideas.
