Thank you for your interest in the Human Connection Lab at York University.

Our research examines how people connect, develop their sense of value, experience loneliness and social isolation, and navigate cultural change (including the increasing reliance on technology). Current projects include research on loneliness and social connection, cultural variation, and computational approaches to studying social behaviour. 

Students may contribute to literature reviews, survey and experimental research, data cleaning and analysis, natural-language data, web-based research tools, and computational projects involving Python, GitHub, machine learning, or social-computational methods. 

Prior technical experience (such as in programming) is helpful but not required. We are especially interested in applicants who are dependable, curious, attentive to detail, and motivated to learn.
