HOBY Oregon 2018 Leadership Seminar Senior Staff Application
Senior Staff (volunteers over the age of 21) serve as a role models, mentors and leaders for the leadership seminar. The Staff provide safe boundaries and maintain the seminar rules.

All Senior Staff are expected to:
- Create and foster an inclusive environment for all in attendance
- Watch for safety concerns, and report any concerns to the Director of Senior Facilitators or LSC
- Be an enthusiastic, positive and professional role model for all youth
- Think first and foremost about Ambassadors’ experiences
- Be organized, prompt and respectful
- Adhere and enforce the HOBY Code of Conduct

Senior Facilitators are expected to:
- Mentor a group of 10-15 high school sophomores throughout the duration of the three-day seminar
- Follow the program schedule and making sure the group arrives on time to events
- Facilitate small group discussions about personal, team, and society leadership topics
- Pay attention to interactions within their groups
- Keep their groups focused and balanced
- Keep a sense of humor

In addition to this application, you are required to fill out a National Volunteer Application at: http://hoby.org/volunteeropportunities for the 2018 seminar. You must fill this form out each year you wish to volunteer for HOBY Oregon (this application takes less than 5 minutes).
Section II - Senior Staff Participation Agreement
I will be available to attend HOBY Oregon Leadership Seminar at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, beginning at 2:00pm on Thursday, May 24th, 2018 through the end of the day (approximately 6:00pm) on Sunday, May 27th, 2018.
I understand that once I check in on Thursday, I will NOT leave until the completion of the seminar on Sunday.
I am a role model for our HOBY Ambassadors and other volunteers. I will be on time and present at all events. During sessions and activities, I will show courtesy and attentiveness as is expected of the Ambassadors.
I understand that the use of alcohol and unauthorized drugs is not permitted at any time at the seminar.
I understand that smoking is permitted only away from the view of Ambassadors and Junior Staff, and only at times and places appropriate as identified by the Director of Senior Facilitators or Leadership Seminar Chair.
I commit to checking the e-mail I listed above at least once a week between the day I submit my application and the start of the seminar.
I will attend the HOBY Oregon Staff Training Day in its entirety (or the virtual training if I am not available on the physical training day). Date and location will be announced in the coming months.
I will complete and submit Pre-Seminar Packet no later than May 17, 2018. The Pre-Seminar Packet includes information about any dietary and accessibility needs, medical information (i.e. allergies, medications, emergency contact information, etc), the HOBY Code of Conduct, etc.
I understand that I will not be allowed to participate in the 2018 HOBY Oregon Leadership Seminar if I do not complete all of the above requirements.
