Get ELECTED: Run our schools, Run our city, Run for office!
Are you tired of seeing Philadelphia public schools pushed aside by career politicians who don't seem to give a damn?
Tired of voting for people who say they will do one thing, but then turn around and do another?
Tired of understaffed buildings, poor working conditions, and no contract for teachers?
Tired of seeing our students attend underfunded and crumbling schools?
Tired of seeing the PFT treated like the weakest union in the city?

WE NEED YOU TO RUN FOR ELECTED OFFICE.
This election drive is an attempt to get PFT members and our allies elected to the 1,686 Democratic Committee People seats that are up for grabs in the spring of 2018.

These are 4-year elected positions and are the gears that make the city's Political Machine function. All that you need to do in order to run is live in the City of Philadelphia. We will help you do the rest and get your name on the ballot!

It's time we STOPPED electing politicians who simply pay us lip service and time we started voting for OURSELVES.

IT'S TIME TO START FLEXING OUR TRUE POLITICAL MUSCLE.

So what exactly is a Committee Person?
Being a Democratic Committee Person does not involve a lot of your time. Responsibilities include attending about 2-3 ward meetings a year, canvassing your neighborhood during election season, and making sure to get out the vote on election day. Most of us have already done plenty of canvassing already, so you're more than experienced!

What's different from any canvassing that you may have already done though, is that this position does bring with it significant POLITICAL POWER. As a Democratic Committee Person, you can vote for the city's powerful Ward Leaders, make sure your endorsed candidate gets on the ballot, and have the ear of elected officials who are looking to get on your good side because they are seeking re-election.

First steps first: What Ward and Division do you live in?
Before you do anything, you need to identify where you will be running for office. There are 66 wards in the City of Philadelphia and anywhere from 10 to 50 divisions in each ward. Find out which one you live in by visiting the PA Department of State:

Great! This is where you fit on the political scene in Philly. Have a look at the following map and find your house. Study the red borders of your division because you will be appearing on the ballot only in that specific location. These are the neighbors you need to convince to vote for you!
