HMCC JKT: Q2 Equipping Classes
This two-part in-person class is open to any church members & non-members, in light of our Q2 Rallying Cry: Let's build healthy friendships as a spiritual family.

Location: HMCC JKT Sanctuary @Lotte Avenue

1. Healthy Friendships: Building Your Life Team (Sunday, May 28 at 5-6pm)
Based on People Fuel: Fill Your Tank for Life and Leadership by John Townsend.
A huge part of cultivating healthy friendships/relationships is learning how to be a good friend ourselves.
Points that will be covered:
  • What are the dynamics that dominate your current friendships?
  • How do you find "comrades" and build your life team?
  • How do you be a good friend? What are we supposed to give and receive from others?
2. Attentive Listening: Art of the Heart (Sunday, June 11 at 5-6pm)
Based on The Lost Art of Listening by Michael Nichols.
Being listened to means that we are taken seriously, that our ideas are feelings are recognized, and ultimately, that what we have to say matters -- the yearning to be understood is part of what makes us human. Listening is so basic that we often take it for granted, and most of us think of ourselves as better listeners than we really are.
This class will highlight what it means to be a good listener, how to be one, and how to respond as we listen, as we build healthy relationships with one another:
  • Quiz: how good of a listener are you?
  • Hindrances to good listening
  • False listening
  • Guidelines for good listening & next steps

All two parts of the class are interconnected, so please join all of them as best as possible.
