There are currently no other national programs centering the leadership of young transgender people. Recognizing this, we will provide participants with funding for future conferences and events after the summit and connect with them through check-ins to further foster activism in their communities. TYLS is NOT just a summit, it is an ongoing relationship between trans community members. We will additionally provide all participants with an all-expense paid trip to Austin, TX for our annual summit so we can work together in person. If you're curious about what happened at the last summit, you can look at our schedule from last year (www.bit.ly/2mUl4eZ) and photos (www.bit.ly/2mXOmJC). This year, we expect our schedule to not run as late and include a fundraising dinner where participants will get to meet community members.
If you have questions that are not answered on our web site or this application, please email our summit coordinator, Ezra Morales at firstname.lastname@example.org

To be transparent in our selection process, we are evaluating the application based on the following criteria:
1. Positionality: identities and how they influence their activism - 30%2. Past activism and practices: commitment to solidarity, your dedication to transformative, grassroots, and systemic change, and the communities/groups/organizations they're involved with - 30%3. Need: Are they an activist who has been denied opportunities to create widespread action due to intersecting identities such as race, location, or age? We want to give them this opportunity! - 30%4. Geography: We prioritize people in the "Deep South" (the summit's location) and locations with historically elevated rates of violence against marginalized communities such as Southern and rural communities (don't worry if you're from a different area, this only accounts for 10% of our evaluation) - 10%
We prioritize people of color (particularly Black & Brown folks), immigrants, houseless people, disabled people, younger people, womxn, rural people, and other intersectionally marginalized trans youth when making selections in the radical transgender tradition of "ground up" activism.
Selections are collectively made by TSER members and TYLS fellows. We wish we were able to select everyone who applied and have an open event but unfortunately we have to work closely with youth and our capacity is limited by our size.
NOTE: This form will not autosave. You may want to write down your long answers on a text editor like Microsoft Word or Google Docs.
