Colin Powell Middle School Jump Start Registration
Greetings, Colin Powell Families!
We realize that the transition to middle school can be challenging and can create some anxiety for our students – and their families. As a result, we are hosting a Jump Start program that will help students become familiar with middle school routines and expectations. In addition, this time allows students to meet each other as they begin their transition to a new school building or become reacquainted after being in remote learning for an extended period of time. The Jumpstart mission is to ensure children enter Colin Powell Middle School prepared to succeed academically, socially and emotionally.
Each day, students will participate in activities that will help prepare for middle school, including navigating a schedule, getting familiar with the layout of the school building, learning some important study skills, clubs, extracurricular activities, and meeting the School’s faculty and staff. The program will be held each day from 9am to 1pm.
As the entire nation attempts to begin again, we will follow all safety guidelines stipulated by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and will adhere to social distancing, wearing masks, and proper hygiene/sanitization protocols.
Buses will not be provided, so parents are responsible for dropping off and picking up their students for this event – Covid has also impacted the number of bus drivers.
The dates are as follows:
Wednesday, August 4th (8th Grade Students & Teachers)
Thursday, August 5th (7th Grade Students & Teachers)
