The Strive to Save Lives Program (SSL) aims to equip youth and young adults in the North Texas Region with life-saving skills such as conducting CPR, operating an AED, performing First Aid for Severe Trauma (FAST) and providing Basic Life Support (BLS)
Targets:
Our primary target beyond Red Cross Clubs and other student organizations, middle schools, high schools, and universities is youth and young adults in historically underserved communities. Individuals in these communities are at greater risk of experiencing cardiopulmonary issues and life-threatening bleeds, making it all the more necessary for youth and young adults living in them to learn and be capable of applying First Aid/CPR/AED, FAST and BLS. Youth and young adults identified as underserved will learn and be certified in First Aid/CPR/AED, FAST and BLS at no cost.
Instructor Requirements:
This is a great opportunity to leverage your skills and knowledge in life-saving techniques to train individuals who may one day be faced with a situation where they encounter someone who has stopped breathing or has a severe bleed.
Each instructor will be expected to attend or hold two training sessions per month. Sessions can either be on-site training at middle schools, high schools, universities, or a recurring class at the Dallas and Fort Worth Red Cross offices. Training sessions are typically about 3 hours and after school training sessions for middle schools and high schools may run from 4 to 8 PM.
We will provide
free training to those selected to become a First Aid/CPR/AED, FAST and BLS instructor.
