SPN9 - CSO workshop
Alongside the Sewer Processes and Network Conference (http://www.spn9.dk/), a pre-conference workshop on assessing combined sewer overflows will take place on Monday, August 26th 2019.

The goal is to exchange knowledge bringing together knowledge on current drivers and barriers for the assessment and regulation of CSO and setting up a framework for the systematic collection, elaboration and scientifically sound evaluation of monitoring data.

Today, we have much more monitoring information on CSOs than a decade ago, but the data quality, derived performance indicators and regulatory requirements are very heterogeneous and a synthesis is lacking. Therefore, we would like to discuss with the SPN9 community recent regulatory developments, such as national guidelines on CSO control, data-based performance assessment and the role of CSOs in the evaluation of the EU Urban Wastewater treatment directive (UWWTD). For this, we will have an in-depth discussion on a screening model developed by the Institute for Environment and Sustainaiblity of the EC-Joint Research Centre in Ispra and discuss how to systematically collect further evidence on the actual state of CSOs.
