The 2023 RLSC Colloquium, Criminalizing Dissent, will bring together organizers, legal practitioners, and activist scholars to discuss the different ways in which the state and institutions criminalize and suppress U.S. movements of resistance and liberation. This Colloquium puts many different spaces and movements in conversation with one another so that we can collectively recognize and struggle against the same forces of suppression; panels will cover topics like the historical and theoretical foundations of criminalization of dissent, the stifling of activism on college campuses, the reality for contemporary movements on the ground, including racial and climate justice movements, and the resistance and survival of organizers targeted by oppressive systems and institutions. / El Coloquio 2023 de RLSC, Criminalizando la Disidencia, reunirá organizadores, profesionales del derecho, y académicxs activistas para discutir las diferentes maneras en que el estado y otras instituciones criminalizan y reprimen movimientos de resistencia y liberación en los Estados Unidos. El Coloquio cobrará varios espacios y movimientos para que podamos reconocer colectivamente y luchar contra las mismas fuerzas de supresión, tal como los fundamentos historicos y teoricos de la criminalización de disidencia, el represión del activismo en los campus universitarios, la realidad para movimientos contemporáneos sobre el terreno, incluyendo movimientos para la justicia racial y justicia climática, y la resistencia y supervivencia de las organizadores blanco de sistemas y instituciones opresivas.
