Green Parkdale | High Park Community Scan
This is a survey of community group activities in our ward - Ward 14, Parkdale High Park. Note: our boundaries will be changing soon, so we are also including groups from Brockton Village as well.

The purpose of this survey is to generate a "community scan" -- a summary of the major activities and resources available in our community to tackle issues, enhance the community and our quality of life. Our goal is to complete the scan by March 20, and have it posted on the www.greenparkdale.org website.

OUR VISION: A great place to live.
OUR THEORY OF CHANGE: We are stronger together.
OUR APPROACH: Connect, support, empower.

We live in a great community; we face challenges head on; we see opportunities to improve our community and the quality of life for all who live here. As community groups, we tackle the challenges and we help people be involved in our community.

OUR FOCUS: The primary focus is on "green" activities, and climate action in particular - but there is a strong crossover and connection with social, cultural, and economic issues as well.

These are the categories:

1. EXTREME WEATHER AND BLACKOUTS
2. ENERGY CONSERVATION AND GREEN POWER
3. TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS
4. GOOD FOOD
5. GREENING AND GREENSPACE
6. ZERO WASTE
7. A COMPLETE COMMUNITY
8. COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS

Our activities could include:
- OUTREACH
- TRAINING
- SUPPORT SERVICES
- PHYSICAL PROJECTS
- COMMUNITY PLANNING
- RESEARCH AND ADVOCACY

HOW TO CONTRIBUTE: For each of the categories, add in your current activities or ideas for new activities that would interest you. Don't feel you need to cover everything - keep it simple, and easy.

We all have a different mandate and priorities, and different approaches to helping our community. The hope is that, by looking at all our combined activities, we can common elements and goals.

Flowing from the scan, the next step is to develop a community action plan that can we can all use to promote our work, our projects, and perhaps even some new and cross-cutting elegant solutions.

Thanks for your input! I hope you find it worthwhile.
