Steampunk Jazz Tour 2018 and JAZZQUEST
STEAMPUNK
We are excited to be able to tour the whole jazz band and Irish band to Oamaru over QUEEN'S BIRTHDAY WEEKEND to perform at the Steampunk Festival! This ties in well with the fact that room 9 has been studying Steampunk this term! We would also perform at schools in Timaru, Oamaru and schools in the area! And possibly run a workshop for students at a school. I am still planning the details, accomodation, exact dates etc, but I need to find out who's in before we confirm with the Festival, accomodation and schools.
We will keep costs as low as we can, but we hope we can take the whole band on this exciting tour! I might guess around $200 for petrol, food, accomodation, activities, based on tour costs 2 years ago, but I haven't done a proper budget yet. We would travel by school van.
The dates would be roughly June 1st or 2nd until Thursday 7th June (Queen's Birthday plus a couple of days).

Please note that the China trip isn't happening - mainly because it really ceased to be a Jazzband trip with the numbers. Thank you to those who had been able to support this though.

JAZZQUEST
I am also delighted that we have been accepted to play at JAZZQUEST (a whole school jazz competition) in Christchurch. These dates are:
Combo: Wed June 20th at 1:15pm at ARA Music Arts (corner High Street and Madras Street) - cost $25
Big Band: Sat or Sun 4th or 5th August - cost $15 each

OTHER DATES FOR THE DIARY.....
--Junior Jazz Jam in August or September,
--The orchestra has been accepted into the Secondary Schools' Orchestra Festival! Our workshop session is on SUNDAY between 2-5pm on 16 September (I'm not sure if there is another performance slot as well).
--School production orchestra (last week of term 3)
--Strum Strike and Blow (Aug 29)
--Rockquest June 9 and possibly Family rock night June 8
