2020-2021 Courageous Leadership for Collective Liberation Application
Thank you for your interest in our Courageous Leadership Program.
This program is open to graduates of our Courageous Healers Program (formerly known as Sustainable Compassion Training Program). Folks currently enrolled in our Courageous Healers Program are welcome to apply.
::TUITION AND SCHOLARSHIP SUPPORT::
The program begins on September 28, 2020.
The priority deadline for scholarship applications is March 31st, 2020. Early-bird registration closes on April 30th, 2020. Accepted applicants who complete their registration and full course payment by the early bird deadline are eligible to receive $180 off of their tuition. Thereafter, applications will be processed on a rolling basis until the cohort is filled.
We will do our best to respond to your application within 10 days of submission. We may reach out to you to set up an interview to discuss your application. Please note that upon acceptance, you will have 30 days to pay a $500 non-refundable deposit to hold you place in the program. Paying the full tuition upon acceptance is very helpful to us. Should you wish to request a payment plan and/or assistance raising funds, please note that a minimum of 50% of the remaining program tuition is due by June 1st, 2020. Full program payments must be completed by August 15, 2020. Please note that no refunds will be granted after this date.
We are willing to help support fundraisers for folks who need more support than the current scholarship tuition offers. Let us know if you would like help raising funds in the application below.
Should you have any questions about the program or your application, please email
Please describe your interest in participating in the Courageous Leadership Program. What calls you? What specifically are you interested in learning?
What strengths and/or life experiences have most prepared you for this work?
What specifically do you hope to learn and in what specific ways do you hope to grow through participation in this training?
Folks in the Courageous Leadership Program are required to have a project that they work on through the year. This project can be connected to your professional and/or personal life and service work. Projects may include the design of a new curriculum, a DEI policy or training, practices for building more inclusive, compassionate organizations, and so on. Please tell us a bit about the project you propose to work on (we know that the project may change or be refined as the training unfolds).
The full cost of the year-long intensive program is $3600. This cost includes online seminars and closing retreat tuition, as well as coaching and one-on-one practice support. *This cost does not include travel to/from and room and board at the closing retreat. We practice an economic justice model by offering both work-exchange scholarships and scholarships for folks who represent marginalized identities and/or who face significant financial hardship. We do believe it is important for every member of our cohort to invest in our learning community, so we do not offer full scholarships, but we are happy to help support fundraisers for folks needing additional support.
Are you applying for a work-exchange, scholarship or team discount?

No, I am not applying for any of the above scholarships or discounts.
If you are applying for a work-exchange, please tell us a bit about your work experience and what specifically you would be able to contribute. At this time we are interested primarily in folks with editing, research, and graphic design experience. (We are open to other possibilities--let us know if you have some special skills!) We also are looking for folks who work independently, reliably, and are able to meet deadlines. Please note that work exchange is for 45 hours of service and that work exchanges are to be completed prior to the start of the training (*we are willing to make some exceptions based on our needs). Please be sure that you have the time to devote to a work-trade prior to applying for one. Folks who do not complete the work study by the agreed upon deadline will need to pay the full program tuition.
If you are applying for a scholarship ($1800), please tell us a bit more about your class background and access to financial resources. If you need more support, please let us know if you are able to apply for professional development funds and/or if you are willing to fundraise in collaboration with us (we are willing to host a fundraiser on your behalf on our social media platforms and by reaching out to our donors and networks.)
If you are applying for the team discount, please note your team member(s) here.
