ASI Mid-Semester Survey
This survey is meant to take stock of and provide feedback for where we have been as well as facilitate every student to have a say in where we will be going during the second half of the semester.  Your fully completed survey will count as a 25 point homework for Food Systems.  All surveys are completely anonymous.

Please describe experiences that have been really impactful and transformative for you during the first half of ASI. *
Have your personally held views been challenged by anything that we have covered thus far?  If so, how? *
It is our hope that all lectures, homework assignments, exams, labs, readings, and projects support your learning in tangible and useful ways.  We want them to be effective, relevant, and engaging.  Please evaluate in as much detail as you can whether or not we are achieving these goals.  If not, what are some specific recommendations you have for us going forward? *
We do field trips in part because we want our students to be exposed to many different perspectives across the food system.  How have the field trips complemented other learning approaches during ASI?  Are there certain hosts that were really impactful and interesting for you?  Are there certain hosts that you felt may have been a waste of a field trip slot?   *
As ASI faculty we aim to be supportive, available, and a source of expertise to you throughout your semester with us.  We want to support you in finding and refining your own career and personal development path.  How are we doing?  How can we serve you better in this?   *
We maintain Merry Lea Sustainable Farm (MLSF) year-round in major part to support ASI.  Please evaluate how MLSF is a learning tool for you during your ASI experience.  What systems, facilities, and resources have been really helpful for you?  In your estimations what may be lacking?   *
Because we are an intensive 10 week program we cannot always cover all topics in as much details as we would like so we often must pick and choose what to cover based on the makeup of each ASI cohort.  What are some topics that have not been covered in any of your classes to date that you would strongly encourage us to cover in the second half of your ASI experience? *
One of the many unique aspects of ASI is the community aspect.  Students are together all day every day and in most cases live together in community along with other student researchers, etc.  Students strike up conversations, cook & eat together, and work together on collaborative projects (kitchen garden, poultry project, etc.).  Our goal is that this learning community approach provides a deeper and immersive experience that builds much more than just content knowledge of Agroecology.  How has community life been working for you during ASI?  Do you have any recommendations for us? *
As human being we all have biases.  It is our goal to present a balanced view of Agroecology and Food Systems grounded in reality.  Do you feel that we are achieving this?  If not are there certain biases that are getting in the way? *
What else?  We know that these questions are not all encompassing and it is likely we have missed something important.  What other information can you give us to better serve you, the entire 2018 ASI cohort, and future ASI cohorts? *
