February 2024 Events Registration Form
The Lorna Sundberg International Center, a division of UVA's International Studies Office, welcomes everyone in the UVA and Charlottesville communities and visitors to participate in our programming.

For programs with limited space, participants will be randomly selected by lottery from all registration forms received within the first 3 days after the release of the newsletter. 

Please submit your registration request form well in advance of the event you wish to attend. Forms received after 5pm on weekdays, on the weekend, or on holidays won't be processed and answered until the next business day.

We often take photos at our events which we may later post on our website or social media. If you don't want to be in any photos, please let our staff know at the start of the event you attend.

PROGRAMS & EVENTS
Lunar New Year Lanterns & Board Games
Thursday, February 8, 6:30-8pm, New Cabell Hall
Join us at the Language Commons to celebrate the Lunar New Year with an evening of snacks, a lantern-making craft, and board games.
Turkish Coffee Tasting
Saturday, February 10, 2-3:30pm
Join us for a Turkish coffee tasting. Learn about the rich history of Turkish coffee, followed by a brewing demonstration, a tasting, and a fortune-reading based on the coffee grounds in your cup. Space is limited.
Pizza Chat
Sunday, February 18, 5:30-7pm
Join us at the center for a chat over pizza and drinks. We'll prepare questions on common topics to get the discussion started and then the group is welcome to stay on that topic or take lively conversation in any other direction that comes up. Space is limited.
Open House
Friday, February 23, 4:30-6pm
Jump into the weekend with a warm mug of hot chocolate at the International Center! We’ll have a hot chocolate bar with all kinds of toppings, as well as spaces to study, de-stress, and connect.

Registration is not required for this event, however, check "yes" if you would like to receive a reminder about this event the day before. 
O-Hill Trail Walk
Saturday, February 24, 11am-12pm
Join our guided O-Hill Nature Trail Walk to get to know trails around Grounds and each other on a nice, beginner-level trail.
English Conversation Group
Tuesdays, February 6, 13, 20, & 27, 5:30-6:30pm
Participants gather weekly for informal conversation at the International Center. The group leaders create discussion topics and activities to help participants practice speaking English. This is an opportunity to make friends, improve English skills, and share cultures. Come each time or come as your schedule allows.

Our goal is to make the events as inclusive as possible although we cannot guarantee we will be able to provide all possible accommodations. If you would like to lead an event with the IC or have any ideas of events (cooking, art, games, outings, etc.), please write what you would be interested in leading. We're always looking for new volunteers and ideas!
