San Diego County Sheriff: Don’t Use Carotid Neck Restraint and Chokehold
Join us in asking the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department to align with the San Diego Police Department and end its use of the carotid neck restraint techniques and make clear that the chokehold technique is not an allowable practice. These restraints can lead to serious injuries or even death and are disproportionately used on people of color. California Department of Justice data shows that people of color were two times more likely to be put into chokehold neck restraints than white folks across the nation.
