FY 21 ESEA Grant Application Feedback Form
Portland Public Schools is accepting public comment on the ESEA Application for federal funds through July 22, 2020. Portland accepts funding through the Elementary and Secondary Act (ESEA) of 1965. As part of ESEA, Portland is required to provide reasonable opportunity for public comment on the consolidated application and consider such comment prior to the submission of the application.
Title I: Portland will receive about 2.6 millions dollars in Title I funds to provide support for students in elementary schools that have 35% and higher poverty. Title I staff supports students in math, literacy, and social emotional learning. There is also money to support homeless students, parent engagement activities, and professional development for staff.
Title II: Portland will receive about $350,000 to provide professional development to staff. These funds are used to support academic coaching in grade K-8.
Title III: Portland will receive about $300,000 to help English Learners students develop their English proficiency, support their academic achievement, and support families of English Language Learners.
Title IV: Portland will receive about $250,000 to supplement the district's budget in the areas of academic enrichment, safe and healthy students, and technology.
